Bullhead City is a city located on the Colorado River in Mohave County, Arizona, roughly 100 miles (160.9 km) south of Las Vegas, Nevada, and directly across the River from Laughlin, Nevada. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 33,769. Bullhead City, Arizona and Laughlin, Nevada are on opposite banks of the Colorado River and operate as one community. Besides the beauty and activity provided by the river and the surrounding desert, Laughlin, Nevada is a major gambling destination with several large casinos and entertainment. River activities are plentiful between Lake Mohave to the north and Lake Havasu to the south. Bullhead City is located along the western border of Arizona, about 90 miles south of Las Vegas, NV and 30 miles west of Kingman, Arizona.
Bullhead City features the Colorado River, miles of natural hiking, thousands of acres of public lands, the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Arizona's Veteran Memorial, the Colorado River Museum and 24-hour entertainment. Within the borders of Mohave County, one can experience the Grand Canyon National Park, the London Bridge, Hoover Dam, Davis Dam, the Havasu National Wildlife Refuge, the Colorado River, the Virgin River Canyon and a myriad of lakes and other natural wonders. Bullhead City/Laughlin attract six million visitors to the area annually. Tourism is the primary economic activity in the area. The Black Mountain Range is located east of Bullhead City. Bullhead City is the 16th largest city in Arizona. The Bullhead City/Laughlin International Airport is a full service airport providing direct flights to Phoenix, California and charters across the country. The Bullhead City area has two nine-hole and three 18-hole golf courses. The average daily high temperature annually is a beautiful 86 degrees.
